About Us
Lydney Skiff project aims to introduce coastal rowing to Lydney. It plans to have rowing both on the canal and on the river Severn. It aims to have a community boat build. The boat being the St Ayles Skiff, the tried and tested 4 person rowing boat first developed by the Scottish Fisheries Museum and used by the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association.

The Lydney Skiff Project was started by Sue Llewellyn and Steve Brown , who had the launch event to gauge interest in March 2016 (see picture above). The group was constituted in May 2016 and a Committee formed.
In 2020, the Lydney Skiff Project became a Community interest company with Directors, Eric Witheridge, Carol Tiley and Ian France. Funding was raised with the help of the Lydney Coastal Community Team and Forest of Dean Economic Partnership and premises were located at Unit 130 Harbour Road Lydney
The Committee comprises of
Finance Director – Carol Tiley, retired company Director, an expert on Finance for youth organisations.
Project Director – Ian France, Has experience of building traditional wooden boats and is a very detail oriented.
Chair – Eric Witheridge. Keen Yachtsman and active volunteer in local organisations such as Lydney Yacht Club.
